The CJC Big Band

For more than 20 years, this volunteer big band has been playing a wide range of jazz music and big band classics. Weekly rehearsals prepare the band for their monthly concerts held on the third Sunday of every month at Frankin Junior High (room 148) at 48th & Franklin in Des Moines. (Please check website for any location changes as the band has been performing at selected retirement communities from time to time). Java Joe’s in downtown Des Moines.

The band plays everything from Count Basie to Stan Kenton and new and original music. They also share the stage with guest soloists. If you’re fan of big band jazz, these free monthly concerts are a must see!
