The CJC offers the following scholarships to young jazz musicians in Central Iowa.

Vic Anderson Scholarship
Vic Anderson, a supporter of CJC, trumpeter, band leader and educator ,passed away at the age of 82 in October 2021. Per his family's request, CJC received donations to establish the Vic Anderson Scholarship Fund. Scholarships will be awarded to students who regularly attend our monthly jam sessions. We thank the Anderson family for their support and are honored to keep Vic's legacy and passion for music alive through these scholarships.
Stu Calhoon Scholarship
A fixture of the Des Moines jazz community, Stu Calhoon served as the student jam session piano player prior to his death in 2009. He was always there to help young pianists, bassists and drummers better understand their role as the rhythm section. This scholarship is awarded to rhythm section players who have demonstrated their commitment to their craft though participation in jam session
