CJC Jazz Festival - April 6th, 2025 - Turner Jazz Center - Drake University

In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month (as designated by the Smithsonian), the Community Jazz Center of Greater Des Moines (CJC) is hosting six hours of local jazz on Sunday,  April 6 at Turner Jazz Center on the campus of Drake University*. Download a schedule here!
The day features up and coming students to seasoned pros. The schedule for the day is as follows:
  • 11:00 - 11:45 AM - CJC STUDENT JAM SESSION 
  • 12:00 - 12:45 PM - DRAKE JAZZ BAND I 
  • 1:00 - 1:45 PM - TANNER TAYLOR & WILLIE SHAY DUO 
  • 2:00 - 2:45 PM - CJC BIG BAND 
  • 3:00 - 3:45 PM - DRAKE JAZZ BAND II 
  • 4:00 - 4:45 PM - JACKSON CHURCHILL QUARTET

There will be a $10 suggested donation for the event. Those donations help fund the many youth programming activities CJC offers throughout the year such as a monthly youth jam session, student scholarships, workshops, festivals and more. For more than 30 years, the CJC has been celebrating the past, present and future of jazz in Des Moines through a variety of activities for musicians, educators and fans of all ages (listed to the left). ​* Turner Jazz Center is located on the north end of the Harmon Fine Arts Center on 25th St. between Carpenter and Forest. The main door is situated by the orange sculpture. A parking lot is located on the east side of 25th St.
